New to padel
Padel is the easiest racket sport to pick up and one of the most fun to keep improving at — most people are rallying in their first session. Focus on three things early: use the walls, play with control, not power, and move as a pair with your partner, front-to-back, never leaving a gap down the middle. Start with a round, lightweight racket while you build technique.
Improve your game
Once you can rally, points are won at the net and in the corners. Hold the net with a solid volley and bandeja, punish short lobs with the smash, and stay in the rally by reading the ball off the back glass. Add the patient shots — the chiquita and a good lob — and learn to move as a pair, and you’ll climb levels fast. Groove each one with a feed before you trust it in a match.
Gear guides
The right gear makes the game easier and protects your arm. For a first racket, prioritise control and comfort over power: a round head, lighter weight (around 355–365g), head-light balance, and a soft foam core. For shoes, look for grip and lateral support on the court. Replace your balls once they go soft, and add an overgrip for a secure hold.

Picking your next racket? These reviews cover the brands we stock. Quick guide: a round head is the most forgiving (control, big sweet spot, kind to the arm), a teardrop blends power and control, and a diamond hits hardest but demands a clean strike. Newer players should lean round, lighter (~355–365g) and softer. Use these to choose the exact model — or let RacketBot match you in about two minutes.
